Supporting Students with Behavioral Health Challenges: A Conference for Southern Region Community Colleges

The Supporting Students with Behavioral Health Challenges: A Conference for Southern Region Community Colleges focused on: signs and symptoms of behavioral health challenges and underlying trauma histories, strengths-based tools to support positive mental health using a trauma-informed approach, campus and community-based services and supports for students and partnerships to validate and support those who respond to students. In addition the conference binder served as a resource toolkit that included a Training Resource Guide unique to each county.

Cross disciplinary teams (Foster Youth Success Initiative, Financial Aid, EOPS, Counseling, Veterans, Health Centers, DSPS, FKCE, faculty and Student Government/Leadership) of up to 5 attendees were invited to attend the conference from each of the 40 community colleges located within the identified southern region counties including: San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, Orange, San Bernardino, Kern, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo. Colleges from Los Angeles and several northern California counties also attended.
